The north London club look set to finalise a deal worth £75million plus additional clauses for the Brazilian international, though completing formalities in time appears unlikely. A medical examination and all documentation must be submitted by noon on the final working day preceding any match under league regulations.
Tottenham’s campaign begins at home to the Bees on Saturday evening at 5.30pm, meaning any new arrivals would need to have paperwork completed by Friday at midday to be eligible.
Discussions between the two clubs are progressing favourably for a potential double transaction, with Egypt international Omar Marmoush also on Tottenham’s radar.
