Tottenham face a potential expense exceeding £150million should they pursue a dual acquisition of Omar Marmoush and Savinho from Manchester City. The north London club have maintained long-standing interest in bringing Savinho to their ranks, with the possibility of his teammate Marmoush joining him at the Etihad Stadium before the transfer window closes.
Savinho was omitted from City’s lineup for Sunday’s Community Shield encounter against Arsenal amid conjecture regarding his future. The Brazilian winger, who made only seven Premier League starts during the previous campaign, is reportedly eager to move to Spurs, with negotiations progressing over a proposed £85million transfer.
Marmoush, 27, experienced a challenging 2025/26 season at City, finding the net nine times and providing three assists across 39 appearances. The development of Jeremy Doku and the rise of Rayan Cherki have limited his opportunities, leaving his position at the club uncertain and Tottenham ready to act.
Should Tottenham successfully recruit both players before the September 1 deadline, expenditure would surpass £150million. With Savinho valued at £85million, City are seeking to recover significantly more than the £59million they paid to secure Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025, pushing the combined total beyond £150million.
City rebuffed Tottenham’s approach for Savinho during the previous summer transfer window, prompting the player to commit his future to the Etihad with a new contract. However, Antoine Semenyo’s emergence in the right wing position means Savinho anticipates limited playing time should he remain at the club.
Tottenham have been active in the market this summer, investing approximately £230million on Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke, while Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka arrived without transfer fees.
Despite this spending, head coach Roberto De Zerbi is eager to bolster his attacking options and has identified both Savinho and Marmoush as priority targets. The Italian indicated last month that supporters should anticipate a significant arrival, stating that when pursuing a player he transforms into an unavoidable force. He noted that the transfer window remains active and that roughly 60 percent of their recruitment strategy has been realised, with another major signing anticipated.
Tottenham commence their Premier League season with a visit to Brentford on Saturday, before heading to Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup and subsequently playing host to Newcastle United.
