Tottenham Hotspur have experienced a remarkable summer transfer period as Roberto De Zerbi reconstructs his senior squad ahead of the upcoming campaign, though the north London club have yet to conclude their business.
De Zerbi will have an almost entirely new first-team at his disposal next season, with the club having already welcomed several notable signings.
Key arrivals have included Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke and Andy Robertson, yet it appears the Italian manager still has room for additional recruits in his squad.
It is evident that those in charge at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium are determined to avoid a repeat of last term’s disappointing 17th-place Premier League finish, with the club having substantially reinforced both defence and midfield through substantial investment.
Now, attention appears to be turning towards the attacking options, with Savinho and Marmoush identified as potential targets.
According to reports, discussions between Tottenham and Manchester City regarding a possible double transfer are progressing, with a view to completing both moves before next month’s deadline.
Savinho appears to have fallen out of favour at the Etihad Stadium, having been omitted from Enzo Maresca’s matchday squad during the recent 3-0 Community Shield defeat to Arsenal.
Tottenham were believed to have been monitoring the Brazilian winger 12 months prior, with a valuation of approximately £43million mentioned at the time.
However, City declined to part with Savinho, instead choosing to extend his contract through to 2031 as the previous transfer window drew to a close.
Marmoush has also seen his situation at the club become uncertain, partly due to restricted opportunities. The Egyptian striker spent much of last season operating behind Erling Haaland in the pecking order and could view a change of scenery as a chance to secure more regular playing time.
This development follows De Zerbi’s comments late last month suggesting another significant transfer was imminent, having already expended more than £200million on fresh talent. Sources indicate the former Shakhtar Donetsk and Brighton manager holds Marmoush in high regard.
The Italian head coach informed football.london that when he wants a player in the transfer market, he becomes relentless like a shark and gives the selling club no opportunity to refuse. He explained that the transfer market is certainly not finished but that the club have completed 60 percent of their project in the market so far, and that they have another significant signing on the horizon.
Whether that significant signing manifests as Savinho and Marmoush remains uncertain, though it is clear Tottenham are not finished with their recruitment efforts this summer, with ambitions to re-establish themselves as serious Premier League challengers in the coming season.
